Position Overview

AG3 is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Professional to support infrastructure and development projects through accurate utility locating, mapping, and data analysis. This position plays a critical role in reducing project risk and improving design quality by identifying and documenting underground utilities in accordance with ASCE 38 standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform SUE investigations in accordance with ASCE 38 Quality Levels (QL-D through QL-A)
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze subsurface utility data using geophysical methods
  • Coordinate field investigations, including vacuum excavation when required
  • Prepare utility exhibits, maps, and reports for engineering and surveying teams
  • Coordinate with utility owners, municipalities, and project stakeholders
  • Utilize CAD and data collection software to support project deliverables
  • Maintain safety standards and comply with company and project requirements
  • Assist with scheduling, field coordination, and documentation as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering or utility locating
  • Knowledge of ASCE 38 SUE standards and best practices
  • Familiarity with geophysical equipment (EM locators, GPR, vacuum excavation)
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform field work

Preferred (but not required):

  • SUE Certification (CI/ASCE or equivalent)
  • Surveying, engineering, or geospatial background
  • Experience working on transportation or public infrastructure projects
